Mother of Billionaire Andrew Forrest Tried to Cause an Abortion to Take His Life

drew Forrest is a Western Australian mining magnate and self-made billionaire who many say could launch a successful bid for Prime Minister if he decides to enter the world of politics someday. Forrest was born in Perth as the youngest of three children of Donald and Judith Forrest.

He has close connections with all of the top politicians in Australia and is the great-great nephew of John Forrest, the first premier of Western Australia.
Now, a new book claims his mother Judy, when she discovered she was pregnant in 1961, attempted to cause an abortion, or miscarriage, to end his life.

However, the abortion tale could also have been a ruse Judy concocted to turn Andrew into a self-motivated man.

Judy Forrest, who already had two small children on the family’s remote Pilbara sheep station, rode her horse bareback across the sandhills every day for a week and later jumped off the roof overlooking the homestead’s tennis court several times a day for a week — but despite these attempts she was unable to end the pregnancy.

The revelations are contained in the book Twiggy: the High-Stakes Life of Andrew Forrest, written by Andrew Burrell, a Perth-based journalist at The Australian.

The unauthorised biography is being released nationally next week.

Burrell, who spoke to dozens of Mr Forrest’s friends and associates, writes that Judy Forrest confided in her youngest son from an early age that she had tried to abort him; she also told him that he must have been tenacious to have survived in the womb.
“It may have been a calculated ploy by the tough-as-nails Judy to instil in her youngest son a sense of self-belief and drive that she believed would take him far in life,” he writes.

“According to the small group of friends who have heard this story from Forrest over the years, it also implanted in the boy’s brain the overwhelming need to impress his mother.”
