Family insight from the silver screen 5/16/12

Work should not be an obstacle to the family, but should support and unite families – that message from Pope Benedict – at the end of his weekly general audience on Wednesday. The Holy Father’s message came one day after the International Day of Families. And families seem to be a major theme this month. On May 30th, the World Meeting of Families will get underway in Milan.

It looks like May is also the perfect time for a local church to delve further into the subject of the family. Immaculate Conception Parish in Astoria, Queens is hosting an “American Family Film Festival.” The festival got underway a couple of weeks ago, and we were there.
