Name the “Yes!” Goldfish and Support Your Favorite Charity

Since the book cover for my new project “The Grace of Yes” was debuted a few months ago, many people have asked me about the significance of that spunky goldfish enthusiastically jumping out of a what appears to some as a martini glass. “Why the fish?” they ask. “And what’s in the glass?” they want to know.

First let me share with you that most Catholic authors do not design their own book covers. That’s definitely the case with this author. So I won’t pretend to have some deep, philosophical treatise on the fish and the martini glass. When my amazing publisher initially presented the cover to me, I was delighted but also uncertain.

I too wondered:

What does it mean?

What will people think?

And is that a martini glass?

One thing about this cover is certain: it provokes conversation and sparks interest (and sometimes also a longing for happy hour…). I’ve spent a lot of time pondering how I might explain my fish friend. I’m close to a plausible description and will share it tomorrow.

But for today, my Fish Friend needs a name! This week, we are running a fun contest designed to help us get into the spirit of the book. The Grace of Yes is all about cultivating our own generous “Yes” to God’s will for our lives. I hope to use this book to generate interest in individuals and organizations who are living their own generous “Yes!”
