“Cursed” Disabled Child Was Abandoned by Her Parents, You Won’t Believe How She’s Doing Now

In Kazakhstan, Saule Sadykova was born with birth defects and abandoned by her biological parents. They believed she was cursed because she had a cleft lip, a raised eye and a disabled leg.

Saule was placed in an orphanage and eventually in foster care; but before she had a home, she met a woman from Virginia who would change her life.

Vicky Charbonneau, a lady in her fifties, moved to Kazakhstan five years ago to open a J127 Ranch with a friend to help children and single mothers. She met Saule and decided she wanted to raise money to fly her to the United States to have surgery.

After a successful operation and a new prosthetic leg, Saule say’s “I’m riding. I’m jumping. I’m horse riding. I’m playing. I’m swimming.”

Charbonneau said she moved to the communist country after going on a mission trip with her church and seeing the desperation of abandoned kids.

She said, “Caring for kids. Marginalized kids is what I do. Every life is precious. I’m not good at fundraising. I’m not good at a lot of things, but I am good at loving kids. I saw the desperation with the kids. They didn’t have any chances.”
