WARNING: Graphic image follows… A woman in the Philippines has been accused of stuffing her newborn baby into the water tank of a toilet in a hospital restroom sometime last week. Hospital employees only discovered the baby when they began to notice a foul odor emanating from the restroom.

The baby was found in the toilet of the Nazarenus College and Hospital Foundation Inc. in Meycauayan, Bulacan. According to officials, the baby’s umbilical cord had been snipped and they say the baby was eight or nine months into pregnancy at the time of birth.

Here’s more on what happened:

While police have no particular suspect, hospital staff recalled a woman who went to the hospital last week complaining of stomach pains.

She used the restroom for 30 minutes to an hour, said chief nurse Romina Labaniego.

When the woman left the restroom, she was bloodied but she claimed it was because of her period. She returned the next day for an ultrasound, which showed she had an abortion.

Police are trying to get in touch with the woman.
