The Power of the Pro-Life Message at Work in Uganda

We usually think of our mission of changing hearts and minds in a relatively parochial sense—reaching the people we encounter in person, or even in a radio or news interview. But sometimes our reach goes way beyond our expectations.

ugandaRecently, one of our Chicago area activists, Wanda, asked if we would be willing to contribute some pro-life materials to St. Joseph’s Technical Secondary School, a Catholic high school in Kyotera, Uganda.

While on his annual fundraising trip to the United States, Wanda had met Brother Charles, a member of the Brothers of St. Charles Lwanga, (who run the school) at her part-time parish in Door County, Wisconsin.  Wanda was incredibly impressed with the work that the Brothers are doing to serve their students, many of whom, because they are orphans, live at the school as well.

I gathered some of our DVDs, particularly our film on sidewalk counseling, No Greater Joy, and Meet the Abortion Providers, which includes excerpts of talks given by several former abortion workers. Wanda shipped the DVDs and several copies of our Sharing the Pro-Life Message handbook to the school.

Earlier this week, Wanda forwarded a message from Brother Charles. I quote here:

Today as students watched the DVD, one of the students collapsed, she aborted four years ago and she has been living with that psychological torture, she has confessed and I have made arrangements to meet a priest tomorrow. I will keep you updated. Thank you for saving souls.

Wanda’s daughter, Natalie, a teen who has frequently joined us on our “Face the Truth” tours, volunteered to set up a website to help Brother Charles introduce St. Joseph’s to a wider audience and to raise funds for their programs.  You can visit the site here.

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, we are so grateful to learn that our pro-life DVDs have had such an impact on a young girl’s life halfway across the world from our headquarters in Chicago.

And we are also truly thankful for all of our benefactors whose generosity makes it possible for us to produce these pro-life materials.  May God bless you and your families this Thanksgiving!
