This is Thankworthy before God

Happy Monday.  I thought this Sunday's Epistle from St. Peter and the Gospel from St. John were particularly instructive. My emphases:DEARLY beloved: I beseech you, as strangersand pilgrims, to refrain yourselves fromcarnal desires, which war against the soul, having your conversation good among theGentiles; that whereas they speak againstyou as evildoers, they may, by the goodworks which they shall behold in you, glorify God in the day of visitation. Be yesubject therefore to every human creaturefor God’s sake: whether it be to the king asexcelling, or to governors as sent by him forthe punishment of evildoers and for thepraise of the good: for so is the will of God,that by doing well you may put to silencethe ignorance of foolish men: as free, andnot as making liberty a cloak for malice, butas the servants of God. Honor all men: lovethe brotherhood: fear God: honor the king.Servants, be subject to your masters with allfear, not only to the good and gentle, butalso to the froward. For this is thankworthybefore God: in Christ Jesus our Lord. AT THAT TIME Jesus said to His disciples: Alittle while, and now you shall not see Me:and again a little while, and you shall seeMe: because I go to the Father. Then someof His disciples said to one another: What isthis that He saith to us: A little while, andyou shall not see me: and again a little while, and you shall see Me, and, Because I go tothe Father. They said therefore: What is thisthat He saith, A little while? We know notwhat He speaketh. And Jesus knew that theyhad a mind to ask Him. And He said tothem: Of this do you inquire amongyourselves, because I said: A little while, and you shall not see Me: and again a littlewhile, and you shall see Me. Amen, amen, Isay to you, that you shall lament and weep, but the world shall rejoice: and you shall bemade sorrowful, but your sorrow shall beturned into joy. A woman, when she is inlabor, hath sorrow, because her hour iscome: but when she hath brought forth thechild, she remembereth no more theanguish, for joy that a man is born into theworld. So also you now indeed havesorrow: but I will see you again and yourheart shall rejoice: and your joy no manshall take from you.
