It is painful to me to think that people asked Jesus who he was and they choose not to believe him. It is painful in the same way as when people I love turn away from the faith. I have watched many people turn away, and it’s not that they don’t believe in God but they seem to think religion is useless. How can being a part of the Church be useless? How can you say, “I believe,” but have no need to express that belief?

All that we have and all that we are is because of God. Jesus points to his Father as the source of his powerful signs and the giver of eternal life. Truly all is gift. I am grateful and thankful that in my spiritual walk I have always desired to hear the shepherd’s voice. I may not always hear it, and sometimes it’s difficult to follow, but my desire is to never be taken “out of the Father’s hand.”

Ponder:

Do I recognize Jesus in my life? Am I aware of the blessings in my life? Do I thank God for all he has given me?

Pray:

Lord, thank you for all you have given me. Help me to see you in my daily life and remember that you are calling me to you always. Open my ears to your voice, my shepherd. Amen.
