Five-Year-Old Boy With Clubbed Hands Makes Amazing 911 Call to Save His Mother’s Life

In Colorado, a five-year-olds 911 call may have saved his mothers life. On April 27th, Aydhun Byars realized there was something wrong with his mom, Tarah Gunderlock, who has Type 1 diabetes. According to the Mayo Clinic, Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin, a hormone needed to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy.

According to 7 News Denver, Aydhun was alone with his mother when she went into diabetic shock but he remembered that his grandmother had taught him how to make the emergency call. Aydhun told the 911 dispatcher: “She’s sleeping and she opens her eyes and she never answers me.”

Aydhun said, “I was a little scared but I was a lot calm. I just didn’t know what to do.” Now his mother says Aydhun’s her superhero because she knows dialing a phone isn’t easy for him since he has arthropyosis and clubbed hands and feet.

She said, “He’s my little superhero and he makes me really, really happy. I told him ‘you used your superpower’ and he told me ‘my superpower is love.'”
