Anonymous Hackers Break Into Planned Parenthood’s Computer System, Plan to Release Emails
Anonymous hackers have reportedly broken into Planned Parenthood’s computer system and they say the plan to release emails and other files that will further expose the abortion business in the wake of two expose’ videos catching Planned Parenthood doctors arranging for the sale of body parts from aborted babies.
Though the identifies of the hackers have not been released, two news web sites that have reported on the hacking claim the hackers are pro-life and reported comments from the hackers saying they hacked the Planned Parenthood computer system as an attack against the abortion giant.
Planned Parenthood denies any hacking took place, or at least can’t find any confirmation of it. Given the massive negative publicity is facing and Planned Parenthood’s own CEO’s struggle this weekend to defend sales of the aborted baby body parts, there’s also the possibility that Planned Parenthood may be making an effort to make it appear as if its computer system was hacked in an attempt to shift blame from itself to pro-life advocates. Blame shifting was the thrust of the defense from Cecile Richards when asked about the sales of aborted babies and the profit Planned Parenthood makes from it.
Late Sunday night, a group of hackers who oppose the healthcare nonprofit’s abortion practices released Planned Parenthood’s website databases as well as names and email addresses of the organization’s employees.
One of the hackers, who goes by the pseudonym “E,” told the Daily Dot that the cyberattack was politically motivated.
“Trying to mold an atrocious monstrosity into socially acceptable behaviors is repulsive,” said E. “Obviously what [Planned Parenthood] does is a very ominous practice. It’ll be interesting to see what surfaces when [Planned Parenthood] is stripped naked and exposed to the public.”
Planned Parenthood Chief Information Officer Tom Subak told the Daily Dot on Sunday night that the organization was previously unaware of a breach in their systems.
“We think we have really good security, especially on flagging suspicious behavior,” said Subak. “We have not [received any flags].”
Subak was unable to provide additional information early Monday morning.
The report provides further information about the motives of the hackers, but there is no confirmation that the hackers are pro-life. They may very well have no ties or relationship to the pro-life movement and may be simply looking to capitalize on the enormous level of negative publicity Planned Parenthood is getting right now over its sale of aborted baby body parts.
The Hill spoke with Planned Parenthood officials, who said again that they can’t confirm the data breach ad blamed pro-life advocates even though the identities of the supposed hackers hasn’t been confirmed.
“We’ve seen the claims around attempts to access our systems. We take security very seriously and are investigating,” said Dawn Laguens, Planned Parenthood executive vice president, in a statement.
“It’s unsurprising that those opposed to safe and legal abortion are participating in this campaign of harassment against us and our patients, and claiming to stoop to this new low,” she added.
In the wake of the two shocking videos showing top Planned Parenthood doctors arranging the sale of body parts form aborted babies, the Senate will vote soon on legislation that would de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. A total of 9 states have already launched an investigation including Massachusetts, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, Texas and Louisiana and members of Congress have launched an investigation as well.
