Colorado State University Caught Signing Contract With Planned Parenthood to Buy Aborted Babies

New documentation shows Colorado State University (CSU) signed a five-year contract in April with the local Planned Parenthood abortion business to purchase the body parts of aborted babies.

In 2013, CSU purchased fetal body parts from Planned Parenthood’s flagship abortion facility in San Jose, California via a company called Stem Express. In total, nine specimens were harvested from eight different aborted babies killed in abortions at that Planned Parenthood clinic and the purchase order reveals CSU bought two body parts, including an aborted baby’s liver.

This came to light after the Center for Medical Research (CMP) released a video of Planned Parenthood’s top doctor, Deborah Nucatola, admitting that the abortion giant charges per-specimen for baby body parts, uses altered abortion procedures in order to get intact body parts, and is aware of their own liability for doing so and takes steps to cover it up. However, the scandal of CSU purchasing aborted baby body parts from Planned Parenthood hits much closer to home for Coloradans.

Although all of the CSU information in the contract with PPRM is redacted, it is clear that the agreement is between both parties, shows it was signed in April of this year and that it is a five-year agreement.

In the contract, CSU ensures that Planned Parenthood will take “reasonable precautions” for the transportation of the tissue; that the University will not be held responsible for obtaining consent from the abortion company’s patients; and they acknowledge that Planned Parenthood is “not in the business of selling tissue.”

CMP says PPRM abortionist, Savita Ginde, signed the agreement for Planned Parenthood and that they charged CSU $200 per aborted baby body part. This is of particular interest because the contract indicates that PPRM will invoice CSU for their actual costs of collection and the $200 amount is more of a ballpark range. In fact, in the contract Planned Parenthood tells CSU that it will inform them of any sudden changes in “cost structure.” In other words, PPRM can change or increase the price if it desires.

Steven Ertelt, the president of Colorado Citizens for Life, said the new documentation demands further investigation.

“Colorado State University signed a five-year contract with Planned Parenthood in April to buy aborted baby body parts for $200 each, a price that appears to violate federal laws regarding profiteering from the sale of fetal tissue for research,” Ertelt said. “Because CSU is a publicly-funded university doing business with an abortion business that apparently is breaking the law to sell the body parts of aborted babies, an investigation is needed immediately.”

“We call on Attorney General Cynthia Coffman, the Colorado state health department and the state legislature to investigate immediately,” he continued. “Colorado must end its taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, which receives $14-15 million in taxpayer dollars. And the Colorado legislature needs to pass legislation stopping research using the body parts of aborted babies at taxpayer-funded universities in our state.”

Since the first video was released, CMP has provided nine more videos, with the most recent showing Planned Parenthood’s medical director discussing how they sell fully intact aborted babies, including a baby who who “just fell out” of the womb.

As LifeNews previously reported, in July, CSU told Rep. Lamborn (RCO 5th District) they can only limit the university’s use of fetal tissue but did not agree to stop it all together. In a letter to Rep. Lamborn, the University’s president, Tony Franks, said they will “seek alternatives to aborted fetal tissue sources” and ask vendors for “all available information regarding the source of fetal tissue.” He added, “With this information, our institution and researchers can continue to assure that when research is conducted, we do so meeting our ethical standards.”

However, Rep. Lamborn said that CSU’s response isn’t sufficient. He said, “These steps are definitely headed in the right direction. However, they simply aren’t far enough. I call on President Frank to commit to no longer using aborted babies’ body parts in research. There are profound ethical, moral, and legal questions with this practice that deeply trouble many Coloradans.”

Colorado Citizens for Life said the following about CSU’s response: “Colorado Citizens for Life agrees 100% with Rep. Lamborn and calls on CSU to end research on all aborted babies immediately. Regardless of one’s position on abortion, using aborted babies for research is unethical and violates the intrinsic value of human life.”

ACTION: Contact Colorado State University and urge it to stop doing research using body parts from babies killed in abortions immediately.

Take Action: Urge the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to investigate Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. Email the department at cdphe.information@state.co.us or call 303-692-2000.
