Pro-Lifers Target Pathology Lab That May be Buying Aborted Babies From Planned Parenthood

In Missouri, a Brentwood-based lab that examines fetal body parts and may be buying aborted babies from Planned Parenthood of St. Louis is being urged to end its association with the abortion giant. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that Missouri Catholic Conference executive director Mike Hoey sent a letter to Pathology Services Inc. informing them that their “lab workers are part of the assembly line of the abortion industry.”

In the letter, Hoey wrote, “By agreeing, in advance, to take the human remains of these children aborted while in utero, you are facilitating this taking of innocent human life. Knowing this, your only moral recourse is to say ‘NO, we will no longer cooperate, we will no longer help kill unborn babies.’”

Currently, the pathology lab is contracted by Planned Parenthood to examine a “sample of tissue” collected from aborted babies. This information came to light after Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster released a report stating his office found no evidence suggesting that Planned Parenthood sells aborted babies in the state. His office reviewed documents from 317 abortions performed in June and found that their remains are sent to Pathology Inc. for examination and then destroyed.

Hoey believes the Attorney General’s report shows that the lab “systematically, under contract, facilitates abortion by accepting the remains of aborted children.”

He concluded, “As a private business you have no legal obligation to cater to the needs of Planned Parenthood.”

As LifeNews previously reported, there is specific concern in Missouri about Planned Parenthood’s business because one of the shocking expose videos mentions St. Louis as a possible location to obtain aborted babies. In fact, Missouri lawmakers are concerned that Planned Parenthood is selling aborted babies and covering up what happens to their bodies.

In August, a manager with the Department of Health and Senior Services said Planned Parenthood of St. Louis was not sending pathology reports to the state department as required by law. Now the Pathology Services’ operations director says that was a simple miscommunication between Planned Parenthood, the lab and the state.

She claimed that examining fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood is a small part of the company’s business. She explained, “We take tissue from any surgical procedure and look at it to make sure there are no abnormalities. I know people feel strongly about this, and we treat it like anything else — with the utmost care and respect.”

She added that they’ve received special requests from patients asking for their child’s remains after an abortion or miscarriage. This claim seems questionable because state law does not give instructions on whether a woman can obtain her child’s remains after an abortion. Pro-life lobbyist, Deacon Sam Lee, said, “There is nothing in the law that compels (Planned Parenthood) to accommodate a request from an induced abortion.”
