She Was Headed to the Abortion Clinic When She Walked Right into the March for Life

12 months ago, Sophie had booked an appointment with BPAS to have an abortion.

But that was before she happened to stumble across the March for Life UK, as pro-lifers paraded right through the centre of Birmingham, singing songs and waving pro-life placards.

Sophie got talking to a young woman, Bernadette, who had travelled down from Doncaster to be a part of the march. She says something about the march – seeing so many pro-lifers together in one place and the message of joy they were proclaiming – really moved her.

Mind changed

Sophie ended up spending the rest of the day with the marchers, listening to the speakers – including Gianna Jessen, an abortion survivor and disability rights activist, and Obianuju Ekeocha from Culture of Life Africa – and by the end of the day she realised there was no way she could go through with the abortion.

Last weekend, she was back at the 2016 March for Life UK as one of the speakers, along with her baby boy Riley! (VIDEO BELOW)

Heart moved

Sophie explained how last year’s march had reached through to her and helped her to realise the humanity of her unborn child:

“I saw the banner. It’s not a choice: it’s a life, it’s a baby.

“I walked towards the march and I bumped into a woman there. It was Bernadette, who’s holding my son over there, and she explained to me what the March for Life was.

“I cancelled my abortion”

“And I joined the rest of the March and we met back up around the corner from here, and I listened to some of the speeches, and I spoke to some people and I left – I still, you know, I still had it in my head that I was due to have an abortion that week.

“I got home, and the first thing that I did was I called BPAS and I cancelled my abortion.

“Riley is here because of all of you. Thank you so much!”
