Tim Kaine Flip-Flops Again: He Won’t Stop Hillary Clinton From Pushing for Free Abortions

Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate keeps going back and forth on his position on taxpayer-funded abortions.

Just one day after reports surfaced that Tim Kaine now supports repealing the Hyde Amendment and forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions, he backtracked again. On Wednesday afternoon, a Clinton-Kaine spokesperson said that although Kaine “is not personally for repeal of the Hyde Amendment,” but he will not stand in the way of Clinton’s push to force taxpayer-funded abortions, according to the Susan B. Anthony List.

Just a day earlier, a spokesperson for Kaine told a different story to CNN. On Tuesday, the news outlet tweeted that Kaine made a “private” agreement with Clinton to support her call for taxpayer-funded abortions and the repeal of the Hyde Amendment.

“You cannot be ‘personally’ opposed to the destruction of innocent human life and take no action to stop it,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the SBA List. “Voters should not be fooled by Tim Kaine. There is no daylight between him and Hillary Clinton on this issue. They are absolute extremists pushing the Democratic Party further and further left on abortion, alienating the one-third of Democrats who call themselves pro-life.”

SIGN THE PLEDGE! We Oppose Hillary Clinton!

“Sen. Kaine’s personal opposition to abortion and federal funding of abortion does nothing to relieve the majority of Americans who do not wish to pay for abortion on-demand through their taxpayer dollars,” Dannenfelser added.

Ending the Hyde Amendment and forcing direct taxpayer funding of abortion has become the pro-abortion movement’s No. 1 goal. Abortion activists have a promise from Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to help push the agenda, and liberal media outlets are falling in line, too. The new Democratic Party platform also calls for taxpayer funding of abortion.

The Hyde Amendment prohibits direct taxpayer funding of most abortions and has done so since the late 1970s. Upheld by the Supreme Court, the amendment is now a target of abortion advocates who have moved from pro-choice to pro-abortion — forcing Americans not only to accept unlimited abortions before birth but also to pay for them.

While abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood do receive some taxpayer funding, they are not supposed to use the money for abortions. If Hyde was repealed, that would change, and abortion businesses could freely and openly receive tax dollars for abortions.

Polls consistently show that most Americans do not want their tax dollars to pay for abortions. A new Marist poll released Monday found that 62 percent of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, including 45 percent who identify as pro-choice and 44 percent of Democrats.

Kaine is Catholic and has painted himself as a moderate on abortion, but lately it has become clear that he is pro-abortion. Back in 2005 when Kaine was running for governor in Virginia, he clearly stated that he opposed taxpayer funding of abortion.

“I support restrictions on abortion — no public funding and parental consent — and I’ve worked to pass a state law banning partial-birth abortion,” Kaine said in 2005.

However, he now has a pro-abortion voting record, and his statements indicate that he will not do anything to stop Clinton’s radical pro-abortion agenda.

As LifeNews previously reported, Kaine said he is a “strong supporter of Roe v. Wade”  despite supposedly being a “traditional Catholic.”

As a U.S. Senator, Kaine voted against the pro-life position every chance he got. Kaine voted to allow government funding of abortion providers, and he voted against legislation to require an abortionist to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor girl from another state.

Kaine took his most extreme pro-abortion action yet with his recent co-sponsorship of the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” (S.217), known to pro-lifers as the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act.” This bill would nullify nearly all existing state and federal limitations on regulation of abortion, and prohibit states from enacting meaningful pro-life laws in the future. This revamped version of the long-stalled “Freedom of Choice Act” is a priority of the pro-abortion forces in Washington, D.C.
