Actress Kathleen Turner Headlines Opening of New Planned Parenthood Abortion Business

The rich and powerful came out to the grand opening of Planned Parenthood’s giant, new abortion clinic on Monday in Washington, D.C.

Among them was D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser and actress Kathleen Turner, a long-time Planned Parenthood supporter who headlined the event, according to the Washington Post.

Many of Planned Parenthood’s elite guests were greeted by pro-lifers who peacefully protested outside the building. One pro-lifer’s sign showed the photo of an abortion victim, while others had messages such as “Face it: Abortion kills a person” and “Planned Parenthood sells baby parts.”

According to the Washington Post, Turner did not seem phased by the pro-lifers or their signs. The 62-year-old actress said she has been involved with Planned Parenthood for 27 years. She said she first went to a Planned Parenthood when she was about 18 and planning to become sexually active.

“I figured I owed them,” Turner said. “So wherever I’ve been and wherever I work, I show up at their affiliates. During the year, I travel between jobs for them.”

Asked about the upcoming presidential election, Turner replied:

I honestly do not understand the so-called distrust of Hillary. I really don’t. I understand the confusion over the emails and a lot of the procedural stuff that’s very iffy. But I don’t see how that adds up as distrust of her altogether. She’s one of the most extraordinary, accomplished women of our time. I really truly think a lot of this comes down to white men thinking that they’re losing all their power, and they’re scared s—less. I don’t think you can write that, but there you have it.

Planned Parenthood leaders said they hope to see 12,000 patients at the new D.C. location in its first year.

The new abortion clinic in Washington, D.C. has been a site of contention ever since it became know that Planned Parenthood planned to build its new facility near an elementary school. The Two Rivers Public Charter School, a sought-after elementary school in Washington, D.C., is located right next to the Planned Parenthood. Last week, a reporter standing outside the new facility noted that she could hear school children playing on the playground.

Pro-lifers have been holding protests at the site for months.

In December, the charter school sued pro-lifers who were protesting the construction of the new abortion facility, alleging that they were harassing students in their efforts to stop construction of the new “flagship” abortion facility.

The pro-lifers are not the only ones who are opposed to the new abortion clinic setting up shop next to the schools. In January, a subcontractor walked off the site after learning that it was an abortion clinic.

Several parents also have voiced their concerns about the abortion facility moving in directly next to the Two Rivers elementary school and across from a middle school, LifeNews previously reported.

Planned Parenthood believes its clinic will do just fine with the schools close by. Its Washington, D.C. president and chief executive, Laura Meyers, said Planned Parenthood has other clinics located near schools in other parts of the country and they “enjoy a strong partnership.” She even mentioned that their “educators” work with many middle and high schools to teach students “reproductive health.”
