Trends emerge after reform of welfare in Missouri

Ambrosia Rode sat and waited just a few minutes before volunteers at St. Anthony Parish's food pantry in south St. Louis helped her fill a box of food items.

The single mom of two children, ages 7 and 10, has been there a handful of times. The donations help her stretch the income she receives from a part-time retail job. "They're great. I love them here," she said of the pantry operated by the parish Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
