Remembering to Say Thank You

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost May. 2017 is speeding by, and it seems like it’s all we can do to just keep up.

Every day, a little voice in the back of my head reminds me: “Hey! Say thank you to all the people who make this possible!” I even have a reminder email that keeps pinging my inbox telling me to sit down and tell our donors and supporters how much we appreciate you.

But as the emails come pouring in, and the news cycle rushes at us like a fire hose, I keep letting it slip. There’s always a fire somewhere. Always some urgent thing that demands my attention. Even now, this morning, I had to push aside the content I was going to work on today because this is important.

You’re important.

I am able to sit here right now and write this today because of you. Because of our readers. Because of the people who share our stories on social media, even when that’s an unpopular thing to do. And most of all, because of our benefactors. We literally cannot do it without you, and we can’t thank you enough. Just this week, we received an anonymous donation of $1,000 from just one person. I don’t know who you are, so I can’t reach out to you personally, but let me just take this moment to hope that you’re reading this, and to thank you. Thank you to you and the hundreds of others who have donated this month, and the thousands who have donated in the months before. You are the life blood of this organization. You make it possible for me to do this full time while fulfilling the duties of my state in life — providing for my wife and seven children.

Your support matters as much now as ever. We are at an important time. A time of transition. A turning point. It hasn’t happened yet, but it’s coming. I can feel it. A time when all of us are so fatigued by the endless parade of bad news that we just need, desperately, to find and cling to reasons for hope.

We’re in this fight until the end. No quitting. No running off for the bunkers. But I’m going to make a concerted effort — and I’m not going to pretend it isn’t hard — to bring you more good news too. More education. More inspiration. More reminders of why this battered and beaten Church of ours is so beautiful, and so worth fighting for. It’s good to remember why we fight. It’s necessary, in fact.

The Scripture verse in the image at the top of this page has been our fundraising motto from the beginning. I know that if we’re not doing His will, none of this matters, and it will all fall apart. Every month, we put our faith in Him to send the people our way who will find value in and support this unique effort of ours to stand fast against those who would attempt to tear down our Holy Mother Church. But Matthew 6:33 should be our motto in all other things right now, as well. As we find ourselves asking, “Does anything I do in defense of my faith matter? Is it making a difference? What am I to do in the face of so much defeat?”

Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. This is the answer. It is always the answer.

If you’ve benefited from our content over the past three years but have not yet supported us financially, would you consider doing so and giving our regular supporters a reprieve? That $1,000 donation was a huge help, but your $10, $5, or even $1 donation also goes a long way when it’s combined with the support of everyone else. To date this year we’ve already delivered over 2.5 million pages of content to hundreds of thousands of readers around the world. If just a fraction of those readers could give even a dollar, we’d be in a far better position. (We’re currently less than 25% of the way to our fundraising goal for April with just 9 days left in the month.)

Please prayerfully consider supporting our work. For less than the cost of a single Unicorn Frappucino (yes, that’s a thing, and no, we don’t recommend it), you can help make a difference. You don’t even have to leave this page. Just click this button:

Thank you as always for your support! May God bless you abundantly for your generosity.
