Mother of Five Gives Birth to Conjoined Twins After Rejecting Abortion

During her first trimester Heather Kroeger, already the mother of five ages 4 to 17, found out that she was pregnant with twins.

Her husband, Jason Kroeger, told Fox 19, “There’s that initial shock and a lot goes through your head but pretty quickly we came to the realization that these are our boys and we gotta do what we can for them.”

Imagine the shock when they soon learned their twins were conjoined!

Fox 19’s Mike Schell quotes from the GoFundMe page established by friends in Cincinnati:

It is no surprise that they have been advised several times throughout the pregnancy to abort these two little precious souls.

They rejected such a thought right out of hand.

Jason told Schell, “These children are our children they were given to us for a purpose… to protect them. Abortion was never an option. “

But staying with their local hospital in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area was not an option, either. It was not equipped to handle conjoined births which occur once every 200,000 live births.

So, at 35 weeks–helped by $500 for gas money and gift cards for food from homeschool friends–they drove to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center where Elijah and Isaac were born September 5.

Latest reports are mother and babies are doing well and remain at the hospital. Jason “is heading back to North Carolina to work and be with their eldest high school aged sons,” the Daily Mail reported.

Jason said on Monday that Elijah and Isaac still have “speed bumps to overcome,” but that their conditions are “better than expected.”

At the GoFundMe page we read this incredible testimony to faith:

Friends, we cannot see what God sees. Nor can we always understand the “hows” and “whys”. This family has inspired so many of us with their trust in God and love for these babies.
