Nativity Display Returns to Nebraska State Capitol for Christmas Season
Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley will speak at the opening event for the 2017 nativity scene display at the State Capitol
A traditional nativity scene will be present at the Nebraska State Capitol once more. Starting with an opening ceremony at noon (Central) on December 19 and remaining through December 26, 2017, a traditional crèche will be on display in the first-floor rotunda, at 1445 K Street in Lincoln. The 2017 Christmas season will represent the fourth annual presentation in the rotunda.
“The nativity display is an important religious and cultural symbol at the heart of the Christmas celebration for many of us. We are pleased to share these symbols, as the Constitution allows us to do, in a spirit of peace and goodwill,” said Ed Morse, a volunteer attorney with the Thomas More Society. “We hope that the quiet beauty of this display will also cause us to remember the poor and vulnerable, as many are doing at this time of year. We invite everyone to share in the joy of this season.”
