Organizations provide free Thanksgiving dinners

GREEN BAY — Thanksgiving Day is coming. Since not everyone has a place to go to celebrate the holiday, many area groups are sponsoring free Thanksgiving dinners. All are welcome. Below are listings of several dinners. All are on Nov. 28 unless otherwise noted.

A member of St. Gabriel Parish in Neenah, offers a tray of side dishes to Gordon Handrich of Appleton during a free community Thanksgiving meal at St. Mary Church in Menasha Nov. 22. The parish has sponsored a free Thanksgiving meal to senior citizens for eight years, but this year they opened the meal to the public, said organizer Tanya Schreiber. "Because of the (increased) need of families in this economy we decided to open it up" to everyone, she said. (Sam Lucero photo)
