Catholic " left Footers " On Downton Abbey TV Series - Catholic and Protestant Shovels

If you managed to watch the series Downton Abbey this past week the Catholic / Protestant tensions were on full display surrounding the issue of the Baptism of the infant of Tom Branson and the late Lady Sybil Branson (née Crawley) .There was an anti Catholic slur used that I was not unfamilar with that was introduced . That is " left footer ". It appears I was not the only one that was unfamilar with that term and it's origins.First Thoughts explains it at Why Are Catholics Called “Left-Footers”?
