The Real Reason I’m a Catholic Writer

Sometimes you get emails like this:

I just wanted to send you a quick note as one of your blog fans and someone who has contacted you in the past regarding your book, By What Authority. It is a long story, but this past Sunday my husband, 20-year-old daughter, and 15-year-old son were all confirmed at Prince of Peace parish in Ormond Beach, Florida. As a revert, I got to enjoy witnessing them come into full communion with the Church, and we all received the Eucharist together.

I actually read By What Authority to my husband and it really got him thinking, so we plan on buying a few copies of it to hand out to friends from our last Evangelical church who still love us but have lots of questions.

If you can, please pray for my almost 17-year-old son, Mike, who doesn’t quite understand why we have done this just yet. He is definitely listening, but we have always been involved in worship music in the Evangelical setting, and our parish’s choir isn’t quite up to his speed. Our family put too much emphasis on music as he has grown up, and that Is where his love is.

Anyway, thanks for all you do.  I will be looking to see if you ever come down this way, maybe to Orlando, and our family would love to meet you.

Calloo!  Callay!  Thanks be to God through our Lord Jesus!  Wonderful news!  Thanks so much for writing to share it!  And if I ever get down your way I’d be delighted to hang out with you! Likewise, if you ever get up to Seattle, look me up!  I’ll give you the Nickel Tour.
