“Oops, I’m Sorry!” Relay Bible Game

oops im sorry bible game

Some people feel that apologizing makes you look weak. But it actually takes a lot of strength. And when there are no apologies, a wronged person can distrust you for a very, very long time. Saying “I’m sorry” is the only start to healing a hurt relationship. Let’s practice with this game!

One lesson that comes very hard to some kids is learning to say, “I’m sorry.” But it is a very important part of getting along with people.

When you do the mean thing or the wrong thing, the person you hurt will say in his mind, “Gee, I don’t trust that person.”

When you say, “I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to hurt you,” the person will say in his mind, “Okay, I trust this person again, maybe even more than before, because apologizing is hard.”

Some people feel that apologizing makes you look weak. But it actually takes a lot of strength.

And when there are no apologies, a wronged person can distrust you for a very, very long time.

Saying “I’m sorry” is the only start to healing a hurt relationship. Let’s practice with this game.

Divide the children into two groups. If there is an odd number, play yourself. Have each team form a line.

Give the first person on each team a coffee cup filled with pieces of wrapped candy—Hersey’s kisses, wrapped lifesavers, etc.

Think of something you did recently that you’re not proud of. It can be anything from pulling the dog’s ear, to making fun of somebody, to being selfish with the television remote. Also, if you lied, cheated, swiped something…it’s all good to confess in here! We’re here to forgive, not be judgmental!

Shut your eyes, imagine the person you wronged. Tell that person out loud “I’m sorry for…” and confess what it was you did. Then, you can take a piece of candy and pass the cup!

The first team to pass the cup to the end of the line wins.

If you only have a few kids…after one passes the cup, have him go to the end of the line so that the cup will come his way once again. Have everyone do this until each person has passed the cup three times and has three candies. First team to have all players take candy three times after saying “I’m sorry!” wins.

Gee, we apologized for a lot of stuff! The candy we are now holding is a lot like God’s forgiveness.

It makes us feel great when we swallow it! So, let’s all eat our candy and thank God for his forgiving love and grace.
