Times Have Changed

Chesterton once said, “The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected. Even when the revolutionist might himself repent of his revolution, the traditionalist is already defending it as part of his tradition. Thus we have two great types — the advanced person who rushes us into ruin, and the retrospective person who admires the ruins. He admires them especially by moonlight, not to say moonshine. Each new blunder of the progressive or prig becomes instantly a legend of immemorial antiquity for the snob. This is called the balance, or mutual check, in our Constitution.”

In our day, it is Communist-imitating “conservatives” who radically broke with tradition to make torture their core value in their cowardice. And now it is timid Progressives like Obama, who has plenty of blood on his hands with his own unilateral murder policies

…and who doesn’t want a future administration scrutinizing him closely, who has chosen to ignore the war crimes so cherished by “conservatives”, thus ensuring we will go on making this mistake.

Anyone, especially any Catholic, who thinks that a state which grants itself the power to torture and murder innocents with impunity is going to protect us from terror is a fool of the first order who will deserve every curse his children will one day heap upon him. This will all come to our soil very soon and become part of police procedure against us.
