End Human Sacrifice

Here’s a petition to stop one pointless exercise in vengeful bloodlust scheduled for this evening. Is there any greater stupidity than the argument than “the death penalty helps the criminal focus on repentance” followed by “Kill her anyway!” when the criminal repents?

A reading from the gospel of Christians for the Death Penalty:

Jesus looked up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Well, I sure as hell do! Die, repentant scum! You were made for the law, not the law for you! Rules are more important than you! And besides, how do we know it isn’t all an act. Better the innocent die than the guilty escape!” and he rained stones down on her head till she was dead. (Jn 8:10–11).
