Jean Baptiste Marie Vianney (1786 – 1859) was a French parish priest assigned to Ars, a town of 230 inhabitants. He became internationally known for his priestly work because of the spiritual transformation of the community. People pilgrimaged from great distances to hear him preach and receive absolution.
