St. Louis priest moved by meeting war-torn refugees

Refugees waited to board a train in Serbia on the next step of their journey toward Germany. More than 11 million people have been displaced by the war in Syria, with many making their way to Europe to escape the war.

A St. Louis priest's trip to southern Europe to get a firsthand glimpse of the refugee situation there showed him the need to see the refugees as our brothers and sisters and as neighbors in need.

Father Ron Chochol traveled with a group of 10 from Catholic Relief Services (CRS). The retired seminary professor, director of archdiocesan offices, parish priest and chaplain volunteers with Catholic Relief Services to promote the global humanitarian arm of the U.S. bishops.
