Msgr. Dennis Lally, a priest for 51 years, dies
ALLOUEZ — Msgr. Dennis Lally, administrator at St. Patrick Parish, Lebanon, for nearly 22 years, died July 21 at age 77. In addition to serving the parish, Msgr. Lally was also chaplain of St. Joseph Residence in New London, where he passed away.
Msgr. Lally was born in Minneapolis, Minn., to Peter and Esther (Bergquist) Lally. He attended Nazareth Hall Seminary and St. Paul Seminary, both in St. Paul, Minn. He was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Leo Binz on March 13, 1965, at St. Paul Cathedral for the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis.

Following ordination, Fr. Lally served as assistant pastor at several parishes in the archdiocese. In 1969, he was appointed secretary to Archbishop Leo Binz. In 1974, he was raised to the dignity of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness (monsignor) by Pope Paul VI.
Msgr. Lally transferred to the Diocese of Green Bay in 1981, and served as associate pastor/parochial vicar of St. Bernard Parish, Appleton. On April 8, 1982, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Green Bay. Three months later, he was appointed pastor of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Green Bay.
Msgr. Lally served St. Patrick Parish and St. Joseph Residence since 1994. Over many years, he also served the marriage tribunal in several capacities including field advocate, judge of the Inter-Diocesan Tribunal of the Province of Milwaukee, and judge for the Diocese of Green Bay Tribunal. In addition, Msgr. Lally served as a regional vicar and a member of the priest personnel board. He also served a three-year term on the Premontre High School Board of Education (Green Bay).
Reception of the body by the regional vicar, Fr. Mathew Simonar, and visitation took place on July 27. Visitation was scheduled to continue on the morning of July 28, followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. celebrated by Bishop David Ricken. Entombment will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery, Green Bay.
