St. Mary Central High School receives ‘green and healthy’ recognition

School's EARTH Club oversees environmental awareness effort

NEENAH — After 18 months of diligent effort, St. Mary Central High School earned the designation of a Wisconsin Green and Healthy School. This initiative was driven by their EARTH Club.

SMC religion teacher Gail Hawley is the adviser for the EARTH Club. "EARTH stands for Environmental Activists Respecting Their Habitat," noted Hawley. "It was started at SMC by a group of students who were concerned about the environment. I took it over four or five years ago." The group has 40 students.
